Man......
On the close of the Grizzlies' window
During my late high-school years, the Cardinals traded Placido Polanco for Scott Rolen.
The arrival of Rolen, coupled with the presence of Jim Edmonds and the rise of Albert Pujols, put the Cardinals in the conversation for National League contenders.
During the five-plus years of MV3, the Cardinals won four division titles, two National League pennants, and a World Series.
So in so many words, the window with Rolen, Edmonds, and Pujols didn't get wasted.
I thought about that on Tuesday when news broke that Jaren Jackson got traded from the Grizzlies to the Jazz in an eight-player deal, leaving Ja Morant as the lone holdout from the core of Bane, Jackson, and Morant that many thought was going to bring a parade to Beale Street.
As opposed to what happened in St. Louis with the core of Edmonds, Pujols, and Rolen, the window of Bane, Jackson, and Morant yielded two division titles and only one postseason series win.
That was it.
A good window wasted.
